The Jesinghausen Award honors Bernd-Dieter Jesinghausen, a distinguished leader in the versatile hunting dog community. As a 10-year President of the Verband für Kleine Münsterländer e.V. and founder of Kleine Münsterländer International, Bernd-Dieter played a pivotal role in expanding the club to over 5,000 members and fostering global cooperation among KlM owners and breeders.

Career Highlights

  • Joined the Verband für Kleine Münsterländer in 1982

  • Served as Chairman of LG Nordbayern (1985–2005), now Honorary Chairman

  • Certified JGHV performance and blood-tracking judge, conformation judge, and teaching judge

  • President of the Verband (2002–2012), during which he modernized club rules and breeding standards

  • Founded Kleine Münsterländer International in 2006, uniting KlM communities worldwide

Impact in North America

Bernd-Dieter championed the vision of the classic Kleine Münsterländer in North America—emphasizing health, temperament, and adherence to international breed standards. In 2013, he supported the formation of the North American chapter (Landesgruppe) of the Verband, helping solidify its place within the global KlM community.

Award Criteria

The Jesinghausen Award is presented annually to the dog with the highest combined VJP and HZP scores. The trophy features an engraved plate with:

  • Year

  • Dog’s name

  • VJP and HZP scores

The winning dog’s owner holds the trophy until it is passed to the next recipient at the club’s Fall Conference
