Breed Shows are essential for breeding approval in KlM-GNA

Evaluations

Breed Shows are essential for breeding approval in KlM-GNA. They ensure that dogs meet the physical standards of the Kleine Münsterländer breed as defined by the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale).

Evaluation Criteria:

  1. Overall appearance and breed type

  2. Height and body proportions

  3. Bite and dentition

  4. Coat quality for field, forest, and water protection

  5. Absence of “eliminating faults” per FCI standards

  6. Movement and structure for endurance and injury resistance

The primary goal is to confirm the dog’s suitability for the physical demands of versatile hunting.

Show Procedure

Measurements: Shoulder height is recorded.

  • Examinations: Teeth, coat, and structure are inspected.

  • Movement: Dogs walk and trot on a loose lead, both toward and away from the judge, and from the side.

  • Preparation: Dogs should be trained to stand still and allow mouth examination. Handlers must be physically prepared to trot with the dog multiple times.

At the end of the evaluation, the judge provides:

  • Height measurement

  • Bite and eye color assessment

  • Overall conformation and coat rating

To qualify for breeding, a dog must receive at least a G/G (Good/Good) rating.

Conformation Ratings

  • Vorzüglich (V) – Excellent: Ideal breed and sex characteristics

  • Sehr gut (SG) – Very Good: Balanced, mentally sound, and typical of the breed

  • Gut (G) – Good: Shows main breed traits but with faults

  • Genügend (Ggd) – Satisfactory: Close to standard but lacking key traits or physical condition

  • Disqualifiziert (Disq) – Disqualified: Major faults, health concerns, or aggressive behavior
